2-alarm fire at Lawrence Avenue highrise building

Firefighters have responded to a two-alarm fire inside a 12th floor unit at a highrise apartment building on Lawerence Avenue East, near Orton Park Road.

Nine trucks and 35 firefighters are at the scene. They got the call at 4:46 p.m.

There is smoke in the building, but firefighters say they have extinguished most of the fire.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Lawrence Avenue East is closed between Galloway Road and Orton Park Road, as a result of the fire, Toronto Police said.
