3 arrested after police pursuit ends with damaged RCMP cruisers

Two adults and a 17-year-old are facing a slew of charges after a police pursuit last week ended with two RCMP cruisers colliding with a vehicle trying to flee police.

Halifax RCMP say last Thursday around 1:30 p.m, patrol officers tried to stop a vehicle on Highway 7 near Glasgow Road in East Preston as part of an investigation.

Police say the vehicle wouldn't stop and officers pursued the vehicle for about 10 minutes.

The driver of the vehicle lost control on a turn onto Martin Lake Drive in Lake Echo and two Mountie cruisers collided with it.

All three vehicles were damaged, according to police, but there were no injuries.

Three suspects, two men and a woman, were arrested at the scene.

A 23-year-old man from North Preston has been charged with:

- Flight from police

- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

- Breach of probation

- Possession of stolen property

- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace

- Unauthorized possession of a motor vehicle

- Unsafe storage of a firearm

- Possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence

- Unauthorized possession of a firearm

- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition

A 24-year-old woman from North Preston has been charged with:

- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace

- Unauthorized possession of a motor vehicle

- Unsafe storage of a firearm

- Possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence

- Unauthorized possession of a firearm

- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition

- Breach of recognizance

A young man, 17, from Dartmouth has been charged with:

- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace

- Unauthorized possession of a motor vehicle

- Unsafe storage of a firearm

- Possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence

- Unauthorized possession of a firearm

- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition

- Breach of a probation order

- Possession of a firearm contrary to a firearms prohibition order

The man and youth appeared in court on Friday and have been held in custody.

The woman was released with conditions and ordered to appear in Provincial Court on June 30.
