4 taken to hospital following accident on Mount Scio Road

Police say several people were sent to hospital following a single-vehicle accident Friday evening that closed a part of Mount Scio Road in St. John's.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a call at 10:30 p.m. that a vehicle had been involved in an accident near the Easter Seals Building.

When police arrived, they discovered four people were trapped inside the vehicle.

Members of the St. John's Regional Fire Department had to be called in to help remove the people from the car, who were then transported to hospital with what were reported to be minor injuries.

Mount Scio road re-opened about 30 minutes later.

Police said it appears road conditions were a factor at the time of the accident.
