Traffic stop uncovers 40 pounds of marijuana, say police

What began as a traffic stop turned into drug arrest.

A uniform Halton police officer pulled over a car at around 11:20 a.m. on Thursday in a neighbourhood in Milton, Ont.

When asked for his name, police say the 51-year-old Peterborough-area driver gave a false one, prompting the officer to search his car.

Police allege there was 40.3 pounds of marijuana and "a large sum" of Canadian money in the vehicle.

He was arrested and charged with four crimes, including drug possession with intent to sell.
