5 fun things to do in Windsor-Essex this weekend

What's a December weekend in Windsor without a visit from Santa Claus.

That's just one of several things going in Windsor-Essex this weekend.

Christmas is also being celebrated at Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary and there are holiday tours of Windsor's Willistead Manor.

CBC Sounds of the Season

The open house and food drive is taking place all day Friday from the beginning of Windsor Morning at 6 a.m. and then continuing on all day through Afternoon Drive and Windsor at 5:30 & 6.

Studio C has plenty of room for people to come in and watch Windsor Morning and Afternoon Drive go to air.

There will also be tours of the station.

Bring in some food as a donation and CBC Windsor will pass it along to area food banks.

Christmas at the Sanctuary

The event happens Friday and Saturday.

The main house and the clubhouse at Jack Miner's are decorated for the holidays.

There are kids activities, Christmas cookies, a toonie sale, where you can buy arts and crafts and Santa Claus will be on hand for the kids to meet and get their picture with.

There's also the museum there to take a look at and Christmas records will be spun on Jack Miner's actual Victrola.

The event is open Friday 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Admission is free but they are accepting canned goods and donations to help stock the Kingsville foodbank and donations for the Humane Society.

Twelve Rooms of Christmas

The Twelve Rooms of Christmas is a tour of Willistead Manor.

Sunday people can visit the iconic home in Windsor.

The tours run from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Tours then run every Sunday until the end of the month.

Tickets are $5.75 for adults, $4.75 for students, $2.75 for seniors and kids under 12 are free.

46th Annual Windsor Santa Claus Parade

The parade runs Saturday at 6 p.m. The parade starts at Atkinson Park on Riverside Drive and works it's way west into Sandwich Towne.

Parade floats, costumes, Santa, Mrs. Claus and marching bands will all be taking part.

One of the participating marching bands is Windsor's own The Diplomats Drum and Bugle Core.

Christmas Comic Con Part 3

This Sunday is the Christmas Comic Con Part 3, taking place in Windsor at the St. Clair Centre for the Arts.

Like any comic convention, this is a chance for fans to go and meet and mingle with some artists and authors of their favourite comic books.

There are also going to be actors from comic related TV shows and movies to meet and get autographs from.

Windsor's own David and Meredith Finch who illustrate and write Wonder woman comics will be there.
