The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary's major crime unit have arrested two males and three females for a violent assault against a 24-year old male with a physical disability.
The group is alleged to have conspired to lure the victim into a secluded area to assault him.
The victim was at Sobey’s Square, in the west-end of St. John's Friday evening to see a movie, when one of the accused convinced the victim to go with him.
The victim was then led into a wooded area, where the other underaged suspects were waiting. The victim was then assaulted and had his valuables stolen.
After the incident, the victim was able to go to nearby store and call police. He was treated at hospital for non-life threatening injuries and released.
The accused youth range from 14 to 17 years of age.
The five suspects are charged with robbery with violence, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
One female has also been charged with two court breaches.
Four of the arrested juveniles appeared in youth court Sunday morning, and will appear again on Monday morning.
The fifth suspect was arrested at a later time on Sunday. She will also appear in youth court on Monday morning.
