5 things to do around Windsor this weekend

Summer is almost over but that doesn't mean the fun is. There's still plenty of time left to soak up the sun in Windsor and Essex County. The CBC's Mike Evans has put together a list of fun events for this Labour Day long weekend.

Harrow Fair

The Harrow Fair has been around for 160 years.

The fair kicked off Thursday night with the famous Pie Auction.

There will be agricultural equipment displays, baking competitions, needlework competitions, fruit and vegetable and live stock competitions and an event called pigeon rolling.

There's also tractor pulls, live bands on stage, a midway and lawn mower racing.

Evans said if you're not sure how to get there, simply drive to Harrow and you can't miss it.

It runs until Sunday.

Festival of Cars

CBC Windsor's Mike Evans said if you've got all day, on your way to the Harrow Fair you can head down the Arner Town line and visit the Festival of Cars.

The show features more than 400 classic cars, hot rods, custom cars, antique and vintage vehicles.

It takes place Sunday at the Canadian Transportation museum and Heritage Village from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Tour di Via Italia

It's the 56th year for the professional bike race.

It's Canada's longest running international bicycle race and it has taken place every Sunday of the Labour Day Weekend since 1958. There's even a tricycle race for the kids.

The bikers go up Erie Street, down Parent to Giles, up Howard and back to Erie. All these streets will be closed during the race.

It takes place on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Labour Day Parade

The parade starts at 10 a.m. at the Unifor Local 200/444 Union Hall on Turner Road.

The parade route will run along Walker Road and turn onto the E.C. Row Service Road to the FogolarFurlan Club where a picnic will take place.

The organizers are also collecting canned goods and fresh produce along the parade route, which will go to the Unemployed Help centre.

Tunnel BBQ's final weekend

The iconic Windsor restaurant will be closing its doors after operating for 73 years in the community.

Many people will miss the ribs and dessert they serve up, so this is your last chance to get some.

Tunnel BBQ officially closes on Monday.
