5 things to do in Windsor-Essex this weekend

From crazy cars to shopping under the stars, there's something for everybody this weekend.

CBC Windsor's Mike Evans is the man who checks the pulse on all the fun things to do in this region.

He's found five things to do this weekend in Windsor-Essex.

Walkerville Night Market

One of Windsor's only evening farmer's market is back Friday night, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.

It takes place in the Parking Lot of the Willistead Restaurant.

People can shop for fruits, vegetables, cooking supplies, arts and crafts under the stars.

There will also be live music and the event is licensed so you can drink a beer or glass of wine while you shop.

Border City Comedy Festival

The comedy fest takes place on Ottawa Street in the Comedy Quarry, located in the basement of the Rockhead Pub.

More than 500 comedians will be narrowed down to 64 entries over eight weeks.

This is week three of eight. And it takes Friday and Saturday nights starting at 9 p.m.

From there, 64 comics will battle for their share of the $5000 prize pool.

The finale will take place on the weekend of Sept. 19. at the 800-seat Olde Walkerville Theatre on Wyandotte Street.

Dark Sky Weekend

The Dark Sky Weekend allows people to explore the universe from Point Pelee.

It runs Saturday and Sunday starting at 11 a.m. both days.

The Dark Sky Weekend event includes a special telescope with special filters on it which allows people to look at the surface of the sun.

There is also a traveling planetarium, with theatre shows where guests can journey through the universe.

Once it gets dark, people can enjoy looking at the Milky Way with the naked eye.

Point Pelee is a Dark Sky Preserve, which means there's some of the best night sky viewing in all of Canada.

Amherstburg's Gone Car Crazy Show

Amherstburg will be hosting hundreds of classic cars from Ontario, Michigan, Ohio and beyond.

Some of the cars are restored to new or better than new condition. Others are simply unique.

From Model T's to tricked out, one-of-a-kind hot rods will be on display.

There are awards for all of the different categories, including The Nifty 50's, Sexy 60's, Sweet 70's, Coolest Rag Top and Special Interest, to name a few.

Years ago, a man who built a life size replica of Fred Flintstone's car won one of the categories.

The Amherstburg's Gone Car Crazy Show takes place all day Sunday.

Explore the Shore

Explore the Shore takes place Saturday and Sunday.

Several businesses, including, wineries, road side vegetable stands, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, golf courses and more.

People can spend an afternoon enjoying the drive along Essex County Road 50 from Malden Centre to Cedar Island.\

People can bike or drive.

It's been described as the ultimate country drive.
