Actor who had role on "Seinfeld" shoots self

It's easy to sit in front of a computer screen and make obnoxious comments about someone so depressed that he would try to take his life, but unless you have been in his situation you don't know how depressing this can make a person. As I diabetic, I have had two toes amputated, one on each foot. It's a very scary thought that you go into surgery thinking you will have a toe amputated but could very easily come out of surgery with possibly the entire foot amputated. Stop and think how you would be emotionally if you were in his situation. I personally wish him the best.

That's too bad, I know he had one of his legs already amputated. He was in Clive Barkers' Lord of Illusions, and Super Troopers. After reading this blog and reading some of the comments, I don't know how you idiots can make this into a political topic. The man tried to kill himself, maybe he's getting tired of losing his limbs, show a little compassion... You efffen idiots!

Diabetes is a body and mind killer. Pray for a cure.

I understood from a different news source that he'd already lost one leg, so it was something more than "a few toes". Poor guy. My heart goes out to him. Dying by inches is not something that is easy to face.

Some of the comments are incomprehensible. A man felt desperate enough that he felt taking his own life was the solution, and people are posting the most inhumane comments. What is wrong with these morons? I hope Daniel recovers and gets the help that he needs.

I hope he knows that people would be there for him if he just asked.

I think I'd rather lose a few toes then not being able to open one eye. Suicide attempts are so sad. To think one's mind goes to such a dark desperate place. I hope this talented actor finds joy and peace.

Sad that he felt he needed to do this. I hope he gets the help he needs.

Anyone who attempts suicide is obviously not in the right mental state. Depression can cause people to do things they would never comtemplate under normal circumstances. I love how some people rant on about suicide being a selfish act....NO, it is an act of a severly sick person who sees no future. I know a couple of people who attempted suicide early in life (late teens) and got the proper help and are still doing fine in their late 40's. I know of 2 who committed suicide, one in his early 20's, and another in his late 60's. The one in his early 20's was involved in an auto accident and was never able to recover from the brain damage that impaired his ability to do many things he could previously do. He was being treated for severe depression. The man in his 60's, absolutely no one would have ever thought he would do it (he was found days later when he didn't show up for volunteer work). Only after reading his suicide note did anyone know that he too was being treated for depression.

I wish Daniel von Bargen the best of luck. One part of this story that was omitted is that he had one of his legs amputated recently because of complications from diabetes. This man has probably been going through a person hell lately and reached his limit. I hope he gets the help he needs.
