Could all of these earthquakes be the result of the massive 3 gorges dam? There has been alot of pressure redistribution on the tectonic plates with one of the largest dams ever built. How many billions of tons has been introduced to the 3 valleys? Is the dam near a fault line? Very sad to see so much suffering and so many people numb to it.

Reva M, 1st, we can't use new orleans as an example. Americans are far less inefficient than the hard-working Chinese. 2nd, the racial discrimination towards the black in new orleans will slow things down. 3rd, US is a very poor country after the 8 yrs under Bush. 4th, china has man-power which can overcome the technology issue. Also rebuilding a town doesn't need much high-tech things. 5th, very importantly, china values every life while US doesn't value the blacks. New orleans riot was example

I totally agree with the statement that this earthquake disaster is not only a disaster for the Chinese people, but it is a disaster for all humanity. The world is a very very small place. What affects one area has a reaction in many other areas of the world. The people of China don't need to be reminded of the tragic loss or the suffering they will have to endure for the rest of their lives, instead of criticising them and their way of life, we should be looking at the loss of the children

We feel for the innocent Chinese people, but they are still a communist nation, and they still haven't professed Jesus Christ openly. The Catholic church is a underground church. Makes me scared for USA when they pick Obama, he could force us to be an Islamic state run country, and put us Christians in harms way, "Why does he say 'change' and not tell us what he will actually do to us Christians?" I am hoping Obama loses or God will give us an earthquake too to punish us. God controls nature.

China states it'll take up to 3 years to rebuild. Are they kidding? Do they know how long it takes to rebuild New Orleans, a much smaller city after hurricane Katrina, considering United States is a much richer and technologically more advanced country than China. They are lucky if they can restore the city after 5 years!!!

giuliano, you're applausing that an earthquake killing 40,000 people so far and has made millions of people injured, homeless or lost family is a judgement day for China? How can you treat lives so aweful, barbaric and inhumane? You're unspeakably discusting. You're not a human. You're a live corpse and the cruelest devil. Theres your future leader China this boy's courage and selflessness is inspiring to all of us across the planet. He never once thought about his own safety and saved two of his classmates. If only China's leaders had as much courage as this young boy has !!!!!

As the planet warms ,earthquakes will begin to be more and more prevalent in north America as well.I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.When all the ice is melting in the great north the water will slip under the mantel melting the permafrost freeing the surrounding mantel. Something we have never experienced here and its just a matter of time before we feel the consequences of our actions.
