The french collaborated with Germany during WW11, they probably would do it again . Maybe they should stay in france where they belong.

One should expect nothing from France. The French possibly qualify as the most selfish people on earth. If France does offer or actually provide something, accept graciously, but never ever get your hopes up.

3 points. 1. we cant be peacekeepers without a pre-exsisting peace to keep, need to make peace before we can keep it. 2, who's the idiot who decided that you can set a timeline for a combat mission? Utter libera... I mean lunacy. 3. Our soldiers were known and feared as some of the best in WWII, we are not just known for peacekeeping. We have a strong and proud military tradition in Canada (recently spit on by Chretien) We werent invaders in WWII and were not now, still liberators. Get it right!

Anti-tory --My nickname expresses my feeling for the morons who seem to do most of the posting on these forums' they disgust me. The whining, crying, screaming, shouting, anti-law and order pot smoking people who are so blinded by their hatred for the US that they actually support terrorists and cheer them on. Oddly enough those people all seem to be Liberals or NDP supporters also and classify themselves as "anti-Tory."

Just for future reference, Canadian soldiers, are soldiers NOT peacekeepers. Peacekeeping is a job that can be performed by soldiers but it is by no means their main focus when it comes to training. In my mind anytime that you use peacekeepers as their title it is an insult to them and former soldiers. On another note the reason that another 1000 troops is needed is so that our soldiers, can focus on one area rather than the multiple areas that they are being forced to look after now.

Of course France won't; they are cowards! The whole world knows that Frenchman are 'Lovers." Whether of women or men we don't know, but, we do know that France is a cowardly nation that has been bailed out every War that ever was. Screw the French!

Disgusted, with a nickname like yours, definitely you must be a right-wing moron. Whatever happened to your genius MacKay "Oh yes, France is signaling a positive note in regards to this issue"... typical conservative moron that is misleading and lying to the Canadian public. So whatever this incompetent government says in the future, take it the opposite way and that's what you should get as a result.

It's probably best if France doesn't send any troops... we need combat troops - not pastry chefs. Members of the VanDoo's would probably kick the crap out of them for making french people look bad.

Good point Disgusted, but you left out the point that some French fought on the side of the Germans. Kind of makes you wonder.

Roach -- France pretty well stayed out of combat in WWII also, even when they were the ones being invaded. The US, Canada and Afghanistan are very naive to think they can count on Europe for help for anything. They seem to have a liberal policy of appeasement and cowardice, much like yourself.
