If the labor rates have increased why are we importing labor from all over the world? Driving our wages down making unemployment even higher?

I think this is just capatilism gone haywire. Tell me. Is socialism really that bad of an idea? We've done it with our health care system, maybe we can do the same with our entire economy. Public institutions always crawl out of recessions while the private sectors fire everyone. Employment + Profit, never vice versa.

Full time job losses are serious. There will be no full time jobs. Employers do not want to pay any benefits. The government needs to help. No job means no consumer and that equals a monumental loss in tax revenue for the government.

A part time job is not enough too support yourself let alone a small family.

We cannot freak out over this. It is part of the cycle of things. We are not in recessionary period but certainly a slow down. No one likes losing a job but it is part of the economic cycle and the way by which efficiency if found in the system. It will pass. There is little the government can really do, especially when we are an export nation, if no one buys then this is the result. Good work on cutting the capital taxes to encourage domestic production.

The only person who has been BLIND to the number of people becoming unemployed daily is the Finance Minister. We the taxpayers see it every day in our community.
