Wow! A quick glance at Wikipedia tells me there are 53 countries in Africa and more than 922 million people in 11.7 million sq. mi. What's up with looking to the other side of the world for assisstance? Apparently the first humans happened in Ethiopia 200,000 years ago. Time to get with the program and work it out on your own fellas. If the other 52 nations aren't getting involved and trying to help what can the rest of the world do other than offer sympathy. Send a postcard in 20 years!
Unfortunately jhaward, Kenya doesn't have the same strategic importance as Afghanistan, or Iraq. While our soldiers are "liberating" these countries, the truth is our governments have little attention for the real atrocities, in particular Rwanda or Darfur, or now, Myanmar. Now that last is a country that truly requires regime change, and precious few would shed a tear if the Junta was destroyed. But apparently our valiant behaviour is flaccid without a selfish imperative.
In this modern age, why is this kind of violence still going on and more -- why is the world sitting back watching tis. My thoughts and prayers are with these refugees. Your home should be your haven not your hell!!
