Ike turner was a pioneer of music, credited with writing the first rock and roll song (Rocket 88). Regardless of how he treated Tina, the world is not a better place without him. To say Tina had all the talent is a profoundly ignorant statement. My guess is she will also be sad and likely be a the funeral. There are very few cultural icons who can touch the status and importance of Ike. Rest in peace...
To TrulyCanadian --Your completely wrong in your assessment of Ike. He was a pioneer in the music world and even made what some call the first rock n roll record (Rocket 88). After Ike and Tina split he stayed true to his musical roots while Tina squealed her way to commercial success. Try listening to her solo stuff today and you'll hear what I mean. Ike continued to make great music. He might have not have been the best husband but he was still a great musician.
EVEN THOUGHT IKE WAS ABUSIVE AND HAD HIS FLAWS... HE PAID THE PRICE OF SIN WHICH IS DEATH....... NOW IT IS UP TO GOD TO JUDGE HIM NOT US.... MY HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES GO OUT TO THE FAMILY IN THEIR TIME OF LOSS....
Nope, he wasn't perfect but I'm with Colin M on this one: two sides to every story;I've only heard Tina's side, except when Ike says in his autobiography,"Sure, I've slapped Tina...There have been times when I punched her to the ground without thinking. But I never beat her."
But he did win a Grammy so he can't be all bad.Kinda like giving that baby-swinging mama an award for good deeds cuz she was too drunk to know what she was doing. Gotta take the good with the bad, right?
Nah, maybe not.
