greenmeanie.... first of all,Jack Nicholson's joker was good, but doesnt even compare to the level of brilliance Ledger brought... second of all, comparing it to the spiderman movies just discredited your entire post. The first one was decent, after that they went rotten, after the third spiderman, it was clear hollywood was making them with dollar signs in their eyes alone. That's probably why Toby Macguire was crying practically the whole time.

The Dark Knight was overrated, IMHO. It's breaking records because of the momentum of hype. It was a good-looking movie but essentially all the Batman movies are the same thing over and over, just slightly altered. Batman struggles with being who he is. The villains (the Joker AGAIN? Jack Nicholson was the first, better than Ledger, no need for another) try to exploit this. The Spiderman movies were far better because Spiderman showed development as a character (not to mention new villians!)

I agree that the Dark Knight was single-handedly the best super-hero movie I've ever seen, trumping Spider-Man, and even Iron Man (which I thought was equally amazing). The only gripe I had with the movie was the Joker. Heath Ledger did an AMAZING portrayal of him, but ..... he didn't seem to capture the spirit of the Joker 100%. I felt he needed to laugh a bit more, have that evil, black comedic edge like Jack Nicholson had (who I felt nailed it the best so far). However, it's a small gripe

Wow, why would people say the movie is only BIG because this was Ledgers' last film. It was amazing just because it was. And for all the stupid people out there, it isn't his last film, there is another one scheduled to be released for 2009.
