    Air India bomb maker Reyat to appeal nine-year perjury sentence in terror plot

    VANCOUVER - The only man convicted in the 1985 Air India terror bombings will be back in a B.C. courtroom on June 14 to appeal his sentence for perjury.

    Inderjit Singh Reyat was convicted of perjury after testifying in 2003 at the trial of Ripudaman Singh Malik and Ajaib Singh Bagri, who were acquitted of mass murder and conspiracy in the bombings.

    A judge found Reyat lied 19 times, and he was given a nine-year sentence for perjury.

    His lawyer argues the sentence is excessive.

    Reyat was also convicted of manslaughter for making a bomb as part of the attacks and served a 10 year sentence.

    The bombings killed more than 300 people, most of them aboard a jumbo jet off the coast of Ireland. (CKNW)

      Although his part in the bombings is obvious, the money people behind the scenes walked away clean. The bombing was a bigger plot than just a single person, yet the RCMP and the Canadian government are satisfied to place blame solely with Reyat. Money buys justice.

      You can't put this man with the relatives of the hundreads of men women and Children he killed - they are Hindu and won't take revenge.
      Instead put one of his own bombs in his cell and see how he feels when it goes off.
