    Alberta couple wins nearly $25M in Lotto 6/49

    A Medicine Hat couple is dreaming of retiring in the Okanagan after winning nearly $25 million in the Lotto 6/49.

    Tim and Kendolyn Elliot won the jackpot in the Jan. 21 draw.

    Tim Elliot bought the winning $13 quick-pick ticket at a gas station on Glenmore Trail in Calgary.

    He learned it was the winning ticket when he checked on a self-service ticket checker at a gas station in Leduc.

    He was in the Edmonton area for work-related training.

    "My hands started to shake," Elliot said. "I jumped into the truck, drove back to the hotel, and sat there for a few minutes just shaking. When I called my wife, she didn’t believe me at first; I had pulled a prank on her before telling her we won when we didn’t. Then I told her, 'No honey, we’re rich!' "

    Elliot called his parents next, and then he quit his job in the oilpatch.

        I'm from the east... it always seems like someone in Ontario or Quebec wins it. Glad it was out west too but it'd be nicer if it were me in Nova Scotia. :o)

        What difference does it make if the winner is from the east or west if you didn't win?...Prejudiced much? If you don't like the east then leave Canada!
