Phoney officer threatened prostitute, police say

Toronto police have arrested a man who allegedly pretended to be a police officer to try to get a sex-trade worker to perform a sex act.

A 44-year-old Toronto man was arrested Friday and charged with extortion and impersonating a peace officer, police said in a news release.

The alleged incident happened Jan. 27, when a driver picked up a woman near Dundas Street West and Gilmore Avenue and propositioned her.

The driver identified himself as an undercover police officer and told the woman she would be taken to jail if she didn’t perform a sex act, police said. The woman managed to get out of the car and called police.

The man did not get bail when he appeared in court Saturday at Old City Hall.

He can't be allowed to do that? If imposters get away with things like that what are the real cops going to do for recreation?
