Amir Johnson, former Raptor, thanks city in goodbye note

Amir Johnson, a fan favourite during his time with the Toronto Raptors, posted a heartfelt thank you note to the city's fans on Thursday, the day after signing with the Boston Celtics.

"Six years I've gave my blood sweat and tears to the city of Toronto," Johnson wrote in an Instagram post.

"I love the city of Toronto and the fans immensely and I will never forget the times we had."

Johnson, who the Raptors acquired from the Milwaukee Bucks in 2009, was an integral part of the Raptors' playoff teams of the past two seasons.

Off the court, the 6'9 forward was known for interacting with fans. When Drake — a friend of Johnson's — dropped his album Nothing Was The Same, Johnson bought an entire record store's supply and gave them out downtown.

He also once took a group of his fans to Medieval Times.

"When I first got here, I didn't really know anything about Toronto, but just going out meeting the people, seeing different stuff. I love to do that type of stuff, like I said, that's how I am," Johnson told CBC Toronto in a previous interview.

Johnson, who recorded 9 points per game, 6.1 rebounds per game and added 1.6 assists this season for the Raptors, also thanked the organization in his post.
