The future home of the Edmonton Oilers now has an architect and a project manager on the team, the city announced Monday.
ICON Venture Group will be project manager for the downtown arena under CEO Tim Romani, while 360 Architecture will design it.
The project management team will oversee the arena to the 60 per cent design point.
“ICON has a strong history of being able to deliver exceptional design and, should we proceed to construction, of delivering projects on time and on-budget,” said Rick Daviss, executive director of the Downtown Sports and Entertainment District Project.
The arena will include 18,400 seats and integrate the LRT.
ICON has worked on nine previous arenas, including in Pittsburgh, Phoenix and Denver.
Projects by 360 Architecture include a $500-million multi-stadium complex in Iraq for the 2013 Gulf Cup of Nations.
“This is about more than just hockey; this is about creating a state-of-the-art entertainment venue that will be home to all manner of athletic and cultural events,” said Bob Black, executive vice-president of the Katz Group.
