Arson hits Montreal restaurant

Montreal police are investigating a case of arson at a restaurant in the city's north end.

Fire at the La Cantina restaurant at the corner of St-Laurent Boulevard and Legendre Street East broke out around 1 a.m. Monday.

Police officers investigating a burglar alarm noticed flames and called the fire department.

Firefighters managed to quickly put out the flames.

Several windows and the front door were broken.

One police officer on the scene told CBC it looks as if suspects threw several Molotov cocktails inside the restaurant.

Restaurant site of mob hit

The restaurant was in the news in 2009 after its owner at the time, Frederico del Peschio, was shot and killed outside the building.

There were reports Del Peschio had links to the Rizzuto clan for years before his death.
