Bedford Highway still shut down due to flooding

The Bedford Highway shutdown continues through afternoon rush hour traffic because of flooding.The road will remain closed until the rain stops. Heavy rain is forecast for the next several hours, says CBC meteorologist Kalin Mitchell. The road is closed inbound at Flamingo Drive and outbound at Bayview Road. Halifax Transit routes 16, 18, 80, 81, 90 — which run along the Bedford Highway — are all being detoured up Bayview Drive, through Clayton Park (Lacewood, to Dunbrack, Knightsridge Drive), back down Flamingo and then back onto the Bedford Highway.Halifax Regional Police say Halifax Water is at the scene trying to address the issue. CBC reporter Preston Mulligan said there was about 60 centimetres of water on the road as of around 1 p.m. Manholes had also popped open.
