Bizarre Sea Creature With Fur And Beak Discovered Washed Up On Beach

A mysterious sea creature found washed up on a beach that has a bird-like beak and fur on its tail has got the scientific community baffled.

The unidentified animal was discovered dead on the shore of Sakhalin Island - situated along the far east of Russia.

It had been ripped apart with its bones showing and has similarities to a dolphin - yet it is estimated to be twice the size of a human being.

So far, no expert has been able to determine exactly what the animal is, although one “confidently” described it as “some kind of dolphin”.

Nikolay Kim, deputy head of the Forecasting Department at the Sakhalin Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography, said: “According to a characteristic of the skin, it is a rare species.

"I doubt that it lived in our waters.

“Most likely, the animal was brought by a warm current.

"We often get tropical and subtropical species here and when they cool down they stay here and then die.

"I can confidently say that this is some kind of a dolphin.”

However, some aspects of the giant creature has him confused.

He added: “It has fur. It’s unusual.

“Dolphins do not have any fur.”

One commenter on Russian social media reckons the animal is a dolphin that simply climates to their weather.

He joked: “Probably, our summer is so cold that even the Indian Dolphins getting into local waters, are covered with fur.”

Another was more blunt with his conspiracy, adding: “It looks like some mutant sea monster with a beak.”

Other commenters have suggested that the animal is a Briard’s Beaked Whale because of the location of the carcass and its jaw bone.

They added that the fur was just “decomposing muscle fibres”.

Or it’s a giant mutant sea monster.
