Polling analysis suggests Liberals on the rebound, Tories slipping

There are literally a half dozen polls every month about what's going on in Ottawa — admittedly, it's hard to make sense of it all.

But this might help.

The Laurier Institute for Study of Public Opinion and Policy (LISPOP) has aggregated all the polling data from the last month and are giving us a clearer picture of what the public might be thinking.

According to LISPOP, the public is bullish on the Liberals.

"In the month since the late-January LISPOP projection, Conservative popular support dropped in every region, as did their projected seat total in every region but Alberta," the LISPOP website notes.

"Most of those seats went to the Liberals, most markedly in Ontario."

You have to believe that some of the Conservative slip is attributable to February's senate shenanigans featuring Harper appointees Patrick Brazeau, Mike Duffy, Pamela Wallin and Dennis Patterson. It's also likely that the party took a hit with its EI reforms.

And, on the other side of the House, it looks like Trudeau-mania continues.

The LISPOP projection "is based upon a blended and weighted sample of almost 12,000 respondents drawn from Ekos, Abacus, Nanos, Forum Research, CROP and Leger (Quebec only) polls conducted between Jan. 26-Feb. 18."
