‘Rat-faced whores’: NDP MP Pat Martin launches Twitter tirade against the Tories

There's a cardinal rule in social media that if you're angry, you might want to stay away from text messaging or 'the Twitter.'

Um, someone needs tell that to MP Pat Martin.

On Wednesday, the outspoken New Democrat from Manitoba wasn't invited to a federal government announcement made by public safety minister Vic Toews in Martin's home riding of Winnipeg Centre.

That didn't sit well with Martin, who set off a Twitter tirade that would make a truck driver blush. Over a 2 and half hour period, Martin Tweeted about the snub, calling the Tories "rat-faced whores" and even delved in to the personal life of Toews.

Those were only the Tweets we could show you. At one point, Martin told a Twitter follower who challenged him to 'f-off'.

Martin is no stranger to controversy.

He's currently facing a $5 million law-suit filed against him by Racknine — a small Edmonton call centre that worked for the Tory national campaign — for publicly accusing them of being part of the alleged robocall campaign.

Also, in November 2011, Martin was widely criticized for a potty-mouthed tweet , while in Parliament, after the Conservatives invoked closure on their budget bill.

"This is a f--king disgrace ... closure again," he tweeted. "And on the Budget! There's not a democracy in the world that would tolerate this jackboot sh--."

On the one-hand, it's kind of refreshing to see a politician speak his mind.

But maybe Martin is taking his 'tell it like it is' shtick a little too far.
