B.C. dentist travels to Ireland to find mystery woman, love

Sandy Crocker is spending a month searching Ireland for a woman he talked to for two minutes

B.C. dentist Sandy Crocker is definitely in Ireland for the right reasons.

More than a year ago he was eating breakfast in the town of Ennistymon with his brother when he noticed a woman at a nearby table. He waited until she was finished eating and approached her. The two chatted briefly about the weather and how to get to a local landmark of cliffs and then split ways. Crocker was leaving the country the next day so he decided not to pursue things further at the time, but after she left he decided he had to find her.

The brothers paid the bill quickly and searched the town and cliffs, but had no luck.

Crocker came back to Canada and returned to his dental practice in Kelowna, however he couldn't stop thinking about the mystery woman.

"I went back to work and my life - but there was always a joke here or there from my brother about the Irish girl in Ennistymon," he told The Irish Sun.

So he decided to take a shot in the dark and travel back to Ireland to find her. He'll spend the next month searching the country for her.

"If it's fate, then I might bump into her walking down the street or in a shop somewhere. Who knows what might happen?"

He does realize she may not even be available, but he seems okay with that.

"If I meet her and it turns out she is married to a nice fella - the kind of guy who gives her a hug if she is crying before he asks her what's wrong - then I don't think I would have a problem with that," he told The Sun.

He asses it at about a 50/50 chance she'll be single. The National Post reported U.K. bookmaker Ladbrokes put 50/1 odds on Crocker marrying the mystery woman and 4/5 odds she is already married. The bookmaker said the chances are slim of him travelling 8,000 kilometres and actually finding her, but they give 10/1 odds he'll woo another Irish lady and she will eventually become his wife.

Crocker is originally from P.E.I. and graduated from the Dalhousie University's College of in 2005. He joined the Creekside Dental Clinic in Kelowna in 2007.

According to the article, the mystery woman could reach out to him on his Plenty of Fish account, but that account is now listed as being closed. Maybe he found her quickly and is now off the market.

He told The Sun, "At least I can say I gave it my best shot no matter what way it turns out."
