Chinese businessman ordered to destroy mountain villa built atop apartment building

A wealthy Chinese businessman has built himself a small villa in the city, complete with rocks, lush greenery and a swimming pool.

However, his private paradise sits 26 stories high above an apartment building in Beijing, according to the Associated Press, and authorities have given him 15 days to tear down the strange mountain in the sky.

Sky News reported Zhang Biqing, who earned his fortune in Chinese acupuncture methods, is the man who began building a mansion atop an apartment block six years ago.

Residents complained his swimming pool caused floods, the construction was noisy and he didn't have permission to build, according to Sky News. They said the resident threw loud parties and his new home was damaging the building's structural safety.

But the 800-square-meter property was built anyway, and the Associated Press reported Chinese newspapers have dubbed it "Beijing's most outrageous illegal structure."

When the headlines began, the authorities took notice and summoned the man for investigation, but he didn't turn up, according to Sky News. He did tell local media he would comply with the orders, the Associates Press reported, but he reportedly also said he needed the villa to host famous people.
