Daughter writes fake news story to prank mom

An over-protective mom goes away for a few days and warns her daughter to stay out of trouble. Young adult runs through comedic ways to torment her mother for constantly fretting.

That story became a real-life comedy this weekend when a woman from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, played a prank on her mom that quickly moved up the Reddit voting ladder and eventually ended up on the local news, according to the user who posted it.

"My mom told me to "behave myself" before leaving for on [sic] a short trip out of state," she wrote in a Reddit post.

"So, I just wrote this fake article about myself and had our neighbor send it to her. I'm very good at testing the limits of her sense of humor."

Limits indeed, for this bratty child, identified as Emily, wrote a fake news story detailing her arrest in a manslaughter case involving stabbing someone to death with a nail file at Walmart.

The fictional story says Emily then stripped naked and used the victim's blood as 'war paint.' A daughter of which a mother can really be proud.

However, Emily had posted the story to Reddit while the prank was still in progress and Internet fame foiled the punch line, according to a follow-up post. The post says a family member informed Emily's mom of the joke before she read the story.

Another follow-up post says her mother is receiving constant calls today and she was shocked to hear the local radio station covered the story.
