FedEx delivery man disciplined for throwing computer monitor over fence

Hopefully the owner of this home wasn't planning to use his new computer monitor anytime soon after a FedEx delivery man is caught on camera chucking it over the fence before driving away.

"The sad part is that I was home at the time with the front door wide open," writes the southern California YouTube user who posted the video online. "All he would have had to do was ring the bell on the gate. Now I have to return my monitor since it is broken."

Within hours thousands of people were commenting with similar horror stories. One person claiming to be a former FedEx employee wrote, "I can tell you that the incident pales in comparison to the way the packages are handled behind closed doors."

While the homeowner may not be able to use the computer monitor, the delivery man's day may be much worse. Company spokeswoman Shea Leordeanu told the Daily Mail that once they track down the worker it "won't be his best day." She said company executives were "shocked" when they saw the video.

According to the Toronto Star, the employee has been found using the company's own tracking system and he has been disciplined. The delivery guy "did not display behaviour we consider to be reflective of customer service," Leordeanu told the Star.

This isn't the first time FedEx has had issues with delivering packages. In June, Consumerist reported FedEx delivered a package straight to the garbage can. The delivery man even noted it on the package delivery slip left on the door.

A man wrote on GetSatisfaction.com one of his packages couldn't be delivered because no one was home, but he and his girlfriend mostly work from home. When he called the shipper to make sure they had the right address, the person on the phone chalked it up to a "lazy FedEx delivery person."

As for the customer in southern California, he or she is reportedly happy with how the situation has been resolved.
