A canine escape artist's desperate scramble to get out of his owner's kitchen has become a viral video with more than 1.3 million views.

"My friend's dog kept mysteriously getting out of the kitchen so he set up his laptop to see how he was doing it," the caption on the video says, with an edit explaining the owner locks his dog, Bandit, in the kitchen at night because the pet suffers from "separation anxiety," that leads him to destroy household fixtures and injure himself if he isn't locked in a safe room.

But the kitchen isn't enough for Bandit; he must escape.

The pup's maneuvers are both desperate and impressive as he squeals, jumps onto the sink and squeezes through a tiny gap in the boards that enclose him in the room.

Bandit joins other doggy escapees of brief YouTube fame, including Sofia, who shimmies up a fence to climb out from the ceiling of a shed in this 2008 video.

This pup named Kirby is certain that tiny gap in the fence isn't too big to squeeze through, and he's right.

Lastly, the Mission Impossible theme song creates an appropriately tense atmosphere as this tiny dog, Raven, takes on a five-foot fence.
