Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has declared he is in love on television. But the lady he has fallen for is a bit furrier than you might expect.

In an earnest-sounding conversation this weekend on CNN's show Fashion: Backstage Pass, Lagerfeld suggested he'd like to marry his cat.

"There is no marriage, yet, for human beings and animals," he said on television. "I never thought that I would fall in love like this with a cat."

Lagerfeld's cat, Choupette, is already quite famous for her pampered lifestyle, which includes three personal maids who document her every move and her own iPad, according to the Telegraph.

In his CNN interview with Alina Cho, he confirmed Choupette flies in a private jet and eats her meals with her beloved owner every day.

Choupette has more than 28,000 followers on her Twitter account. "I'm a famous beauty who refuses to eat on the floor & my maids pamper my every need," the cat's profile says.

Lagerfeld isn't the first to fall for his cat.

A German man held an unofficial wedding for himself and his pet cat, Cecilia, in 2010, according to the BBC. The broadcaster reported the man discovered his sick cat was going to die soon and he decided to marry her.

Lagerfeld might also find empathy among fans of books such as Dump Him, Marry the Cat. I sense the seeds of a movement.
