Kate Middleton isn’t above haggling at a local antiques fair

Apparently you can't take the accessory buyer out of the princess.

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, was spotted this weekend haggling with merchants for the best price at a local antiques fair, according to a report in the Daily Beast.

Middleton turned up Continuity Fairs, an antiques show in Wales, not far from the home she shares with Prince William.

"We had sent out complimentary tickets to Prince William and the duchess for our May fair and again in October, and to my absolute delight in she comes with her party on the Sunday morning," said Nick Bayliss, owner of the Fairs.

And when a particular pair of Imari vases caught her eye, the Duchess went in for the kill — nabbing the Japanese porcelain for about $240, some $30 less than the sticker price.

Now, Middleton is no stranger to scoping bargains. Prior to being wooed by William, she was an accessory buyer for Jigsaw, a British clothing chain. She also worked part-time as a catalogue photographer, web designer and marketing officer for Party Pieces, her parents' firm. She has also become well-known for her thrifty style.

The new vases are likely for an apartment in Kensington Palace the Royal couple will be moving into next year.

If nothing else, Brits can be re-assured that the Queen-in-waiting won't be frivolous with their schillings.
