Man accidentally swats moth into his ear, friends record removing it

The buzzing in his ear was bugging him.

Bad puns aside, a new video making the rounds graphically shows the moment a Missouri man has a live moth pulled out of his ear.

“I felt him go boom and I went to go smack him and he went in there,” explained the man, identified only as Mikey, as he lay on the floor describing how the moth managed to end up in his ear canal.

Warning: Video contains graphic language and images.

The video, shot in the city of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, shows Mikey’s friends reading instructions on removing the bug and shining a light into his ear.

“Good god, it’s in there. Look at that thing,” one of his friends says.

Then they grab a pair of tweezers and start to remove the unwanted visitor.

“You’re doing a good job,” another friend says to Mikey. “You just have to stay calm.”

After a couple of unsuccessful attempts, they finally manage to pull out the inch-long brown moth, still flapping its wings.

It’s not the first time a moth has taken residence in someone’s ear.  In August, doctors in the UK needed 90 minutes to surgically remove a moth from the ear of Rob Fielding, who also accidently swatted the bug in the wrong direction. Fielding waited three days before going to hospital.

“It was awful knowing the moth was flying around inside my head,” he said.

No kidding. Moths are annoying to begin with. In your ear? Unbelievable.
