Man drives with suspended license, parks in judge’s space at court house

71st DUI Wreck

It was probably already a bad day for a man in Urbana, Illinois on Tuesday when he prepared to appear in court on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a local report from the News-Gazette.

But there's always room for things to get worse.

When 28-year-old Boblue Dagbe stepped into his car to drive himself to the courthouse, he broke another law, according to the story. And when he pulled into the parking spot reserved Judge Heidi Ladd, his bad day was more or less sealed.

Dagbe's license had been suspended, meaning he shouldn't have been driving at all, much less to a court house — where he pleaded guilty, by the way.

And when the judge called security to find out who had taken her parking spot, an officer became suspicious about the man who had driven the purple Honda, in no small part because he was standing in court at the time, on a recent DUI charge.

It doesn't take a law degree to see the flaw in that situation.

Before long, Dagbe was found out. After receiving a sentence of two years probation and 90 days in jail for the first charge, according to the story, a sheriff's deputy handed him a new ticket for driving to the court house.

And then he received another ticket from the city for parking in a judge's space, according to the News-Gazette.
