Puppy meets cat for the first time

Puppy messes up when greeting cat.

Introducing new pets to one another is rarely easy, and that’s certainly true for this cute pup who meets the family’s cat for the first time.

The new addition to the family is Thor, the puppy, and it’s his first encounter with Simba, the orange tabby cat. The video was uploaded by a user on Reddit a day ago and already there’s been a host of comments about the best part of the video: the move Thor pulls on Simba at the very end.

At first, everything seems normal. Thor is over-excited and wagging his tail about the cat. He approaches Simba a few times to sniff him before running away in the opposite direction.

Simba, on the other hand, looks like he couldn’t care less about Thor and wanders off, doing his own thing. It looks like he’d rather be left alone. But let’s give credit to the cat, who may have already gone through a similar introduction before with the other dog in the video.

Just as Simba puts his head in the carrier cage, Thor comes along and pushes him a little further inside. Then he goes around to the cage’s door and slams it shut on Simba. And just for good measure, Thor makes sure the cage is secure with his paw.

In many cases cats and dogs do get along. But according to American Humane Association, letting a cat loose and a dog off its leash for their first introduction is not the best way and instead its “setting up both animals to fail.”

Regardless, the adorable pup sure got his way and it may take a little longer for these two to get to know each other better.
