Rapid Realty gives raise to employees who get company logo tattoo

Anthony Lolli of Rapid Realty NYC offered each of his 800 employees a permanent 15% raise. There is a catch, of course.

A New York City real estate company has definitively answered the question: “How badly do you want that raise?”

While working longer hours, showing initiative and bringing in higher returns may not bump up your salary at Rapid Realty, a trip to the local tattoo parlour will.

As CBS News notes, 40 employees of Rapid Realty have permanently inked themselves with the company logo in order to receive a 15 per cent pay raise.

This means that for an additional 15 per cent per year, 40 individuals underwent a painful procedure whereby insoluble ink was injected via sharp needle in the top layers of their epidermis so that they can now become walking human billboards for their place of employment.

In a company of 800, that means there are still 760 workers potentially mulling this idea.

Company owner Anthony Lolli says the idea generated from a lone employee who got the tattoo out of his sheer enthusiasm for selling Manhattan real estate.

“He calls me up,” Lolli told the news network. “‘Hey Anthony, I’m getting the logo on me.’ I show up at the shop and I’m like ‘this is cool, how can I repay you?’”

Lolli repaid him by offering him a raise.

Other agents eager to get a piece of that ornately designed tattoo pie started rushing in to their local parlours to order a Rapid Realty special.

A kind and merciful boss, Lolli doesn’t demand they get tattooed in conspicuous places, like the forehead or cleavage. Instead, he leaves it up to the individual to determine the spot that works best for them.

Brooke Koropatnick, for example, now sports an attractive Rapid Realty logo in the sensitive, delicate spot behind her ear. “I had a paycheck coming in what was a substantial amount of money difference, so it was nice,” she said by way of explanation.

While this is hardly the first time a company has shelled out to have people ink its brand name on their bodies, Lolli’s is the most generous. He’s not forcing anyone to do it, and it’s clear his workers feel enthusiastic and loyal to his company.

And if they do get laid off, there’s always painful laser removal. Wonder if their medical plan would cover that in some sort of mercy clause?
