Soggy supper: Fish tank bursts at Disney World restaurant

A fish tank at a Disney World restaurant in Orlando broke and sent water over patrons.

A giant fish tank in one of Disney’s restaurants in Orlando burst on Monday, putting a real damper on dinner for customers.

The fish tank, which is situated in the middle of the T-Rex Café dining room, seems to have burst at one of the tank’s seams, and water began gushing out in a stream.

Staff immediately rushed over to try to help usher diners out of the area, but obviously catching this spectacle on camera was too important for some to leave.

“It was chaos,” one onlooker posted to Facebook, as well as photos and the video of the circular aquarium, with the water aggressively pouring out the side.

Employees scooped up the fish in a net to save them before the water ran out of the tank. Other staff brought out garbage cans and long-handled squeegees to help with the situation.

“The staff — they were doing the best job that they could,” said Kate Wallace, a visitor who was sitting about 20 feet from where the tank burst. “It was craziness. Just kind of people freaking out. It’s not something that you see very often. How do you respond to that?” she added.

Wallace believed that one of the seams on the side of the tank opened up and that’s how the water burst out. Although there were no reports of injuries, those sitting directly below the tank more than likely got a nice little shower during their meal.

All questions about the incident were referred to corporate headquarters.
