A Toronto woman found herself locked inside The Bay at Yonge St. and Bloor Ave. yesterday, after the store had closed for the evening.

Emily Keeler was looking at some bedding when all of a sudden the lights went out. She headed for the exit only to find that the doors were locked and she could not get out. Hmm … I thought this was every woman’s fantasy! Apparently, not.

Keeler took to Twitter, tweeting her situation and describing how terrified she actually was.

Completely alone. In a very large, dark, closed department store. Are scenes from Dawn of the Dead coming into anyone else's mind?

She begins to tweet photos of the empty department store in hopes that maybe someone would hear her plea.

Some people tweeted her back with some hilarious responses.

Remember the mannequins from Today’s Special?

Gee, as if the poor girl’s not scared enough … alone in a huge department store with walking, talking mannequins is a terrifying thought in itself. I guess the zombies are still worse, though.

One woman tweeted that Keeler is living her dream, trapped in The Bay’s bedding section. I guess it would be pretty awesome sleeping in one of those big comfy display beds for a night.

The woman also suggested Keeler call the police non-emergency line, and left her the number. Very helpful!

Finally, someone in the adjacent building noticed her, and she is convinced she will be freed! She posted a picture of a back door exit that someone suggested she should try. It was locked and she began to panic.

She tweeted that she may have to call the cops on herself if someone doesn’t get a hold of HBC security soon. She even tweeted @HudsonsBay_Co so they could see her struggle and potentially remedy the situation. No such luck.

At least the radio was still playing to keep her company... including Bay ads on repeat … that’s enough to drive anyone alone in a department store crazy.

Eventually, she phones the non-emergency police line and at first the dispatcher couldn’t believe it either!

The dispatcher told Keeler that she should wait to see if the HBC security guard could get a hold of management. After waiting a little longer, two Bay managers showed up, opened the doors with their key, and Keeler was finally free.
