Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has apparently finished his Christmas shopping and is ready and willing to help you cross that special lady off of your list.

While appearing on a Washington sports radio show on Thursday, Ford shared his secret for keeping his wife happy: giving her the gift of money.

“Women love money. Give them a couple thousand bucks and they are happy," Ford told Washington's The Sports Junkies when asked what his wife Renata was getting for Christmas.

“At the end of the day, she wants her cash, so I give her a nice cheque and we’re all happy.”

Ford said he also got his wife some other little gifts, such as flowers. In return, he said she usually gets him something related to sports or politics.

Renata Ford tends to remains out of the public spotlight, although Ford recently made some questionable comments about her, for which he later apologized.

He has also stirred controversy with previous comments about women. He once offered to explain how politics works to women. And on a previous appearance on The Sports Junkies, he suggested women choose their football teams based on how cute the players are.

All questions of tact aside, thousands of dollars seems like a very generous gift. Ford is a multimillionaire based on the wealth of his family company Deco Labels and Tags.

His brother, Coun. Doug Ford, recently shared his wealth by handing out $20 bills to constituents living in community housing.

Rob Ford apologized last night for comments he made painting Toronto Star reporter Daniel Dale as a pedophile.

Dale has accepted the apology and has withdrawn his intentions to file a libel suit.
