Police put brakes on Kelowna party bus for alcohol violation

It's advertised as a party on wheels — a 1970's school bus converted into a mobile nightclub, where the seats have been replaced by benches and a bright pink stripper pole adorns the interior.

But an alcohol violation has forced owner Jamal Jacob to tow his Embassy World Entertainment Bus back to the garage.

As the CBC reports, Kelowna police busted up the party on Saturday after they found that customers had brought large amounts of liquor on board.

"Dancing on a bus is ill advised, but open alcohol in any motor vehicle is illegal," Cst. Kris Clark with Kelowna RCMP told the news network.

Police slapped Jacob with an open liquor ticket and shipped the partygoers back home.

The incident didn't sit well with Trudi Schneider, who told the CHBC Okanagan News her 15-year-old son was left to fend for himself on the curb after getting drunk on the party bus two weeks ago. She said Jacob left her son, clad only in a t-shirt and jeans - on the side of the road after he had too much to drink and threw up.

"He was scared. Really scared and cold," she said, adding that she regrets allowing her son to attend the party.

Jacob said he dropped the teen off at a nearby gas station once he was sure the boy had texted his mother to pick him up.

The article also mentioned that Jacob's driver doesn't have a chauffeur permit. Jacob DJs from the vehicle's sound deck for the duration of the party.

While a brush with the law may have deterred other entrepreneurs, Jacob said he'd like to get his show back on the road.

"It's been a decent business so far. It's an interesting idea, it's a good time. It's a good place to be," he told the CBC.

He said he planned to meet with the City of Kelowna and will do whatever it takes to make his party bus legal.

The first step? Checking each passenger thoroughly for alcohol before they set foot on board.

Embassy World Entertainment Bus' Facebook page has since been removed from the social media site.

You can see what Jacob's party bus experience is like here:

Holy F#$k,!!!!! Mom drops off 15 year old I repeat 15 year old to go drinking on the bus and then has the audacity to criticize police for not doing what should have been her job in the first place???? Could her head be any further up her #$%$ Hey clown shoes how about taking a course in parenting. Let the police - police and here's a suggestion - how about parents actually do something novel these days - PARENT!!!!! UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE!!!!!!

Agreed!! She should be ashamed to allow that, and embarassed to go on the news & talk about it without taking any form of responsibility!

C'mon it is Kelowna. Small town BC is full of FAS people. And the amount of cocaine that was used in small town BC in the 80s and 90s - no wonder people there are so bright. Dumb and drugged makes for stupid decisions. People drink and do drugs right through pregnancies is such places.

While I agree that the parenting here was pretty crappy, I'm sure that you can agree that the party bus owner dropped the ball. Just because you have a bad situation like a drunk 15 year old does not mean you have to make it worse by kicking him out into the street.

As a professional driver, I would never allow such shenanigans on my vehicle. And the mother who allows her 15 year old to go on such an excursion is a negligent unfit mother
      • Alwin 3 months ago
Mother should be taken to task for being negligent, Come on allowing a 15 year old to go around and drink alcohol

Typical self-absorbed parent- "you left my 15 year old drunken "angel" all alone!!!" God forbid she should show any accountability for her brat breaking the law.
      • A Yahoo! User 3 months ago
Exactly. She should be charged. She knew that there was going to be booz and he was going to drink. She openly says this!!
      • Lyds 3 months ago
It does NOT say she knew about the alcohol. Naive, perhaps even stupid, but not necessarily negligent.
      • anonamous 3 months ago
it does say she knew..she said they were told to hide it if cops came..HELLO..

So Trudi Schneider was upset with the bus driver that left her 15 year old son on the side of the road, drunk, to fend for himself. And now she "regrets" allowing her son to "attend" the party on the bus. Oh that is parenting at it's "paramount."........ Earth to Trudi......what's wrong with this picture?

      • Meds 3 months ago
Illegal in Calgary and ALL of Ontario since 2007.
Not sure about the rest of the provinces. F******
        bureaucrats.
      • Trisha 3 months ago
most limos mini bars consists of glasses, ice and sodas.
      • DIABLO 3 months ago
They do have mini bars YES and it is strictly for soft drinks and ice as they mostly have a cooler in the trunk with all kinds of POP and NO alcohol especially in the Toronto area as metro Toronto police stop most limos to chck as do the regions around metro too. Still the airheads manage to sneak a bottle aboard the limo. What is next...strip searches for all getting into the limos?

What kind of Mother is that, let her 15 year old go out drinking, she said she knew that there was booze onbroad
    • A Yahoo! User  •  Toronto, Ontario  •  3 months ago
First off what kind of mother knowingly lets her 15 yr old kid go out on a party bus knowing there will be booze and he was going to be drinking. She is so eager to blame everyone else for her kid getting sick and being left at a gas station. This woman should be charged. And as far as the driver saying he didn't know there was alcohol is a joke. In the video you can clearly see all which seem to be underage kids, drinking in plain view. I would imagine there are drugs as well. I hope when he puts the bus back on the road the cops shut him down again. This is a disaster waiting to happen. A very bad idea.

Mom...look in a mirror that's who you should point the finger at.
    • Mad-Scottsman  •  Courtenay, British Columbia  •  3 months ago
Now if they would stop the Golden Arrow busses coming from Edmonton filled with boozers every weekend going to ski resorts in the Rockies. They drink all the way and then quietly sneak it in for the trip home.

I AM A LIMO DRIVER in Canada Alcohol is not permitted in a moving vehicle period. TV and movies do it but in the real great white north it is illegal. IF a Limo driver allows it it is at his own risk of a ticket and impounding of his car if he is pulled over
