Rob Ford’s staffer David Price courting controversy again

David Price is no longer working in the office of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.

You can't teach loyalty, but you can teach patience and respect, and maybe we should start there. David Price, the controversial friend and employee of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, is in hot water again this time for allegedly berating public transit employees and breaking a train station door.

The Toronto Star first reported that Metrolinx, Ontario's transit oversight agency, is investigating Price for a tirade he apparently went on after missing his train in August, leading to the destruction of a door accusations of bullying.

According to the report, Price missed the 7:41 a.m. Go Train from Georgetown, Ont., to Toronto's Union Station on Aug. 27, prompting him to swear at and berate an employee.

An eyewitness told the newspaper Price arrived one minute before the train was set to depart and was furious his ticket was not processed in time. He later stormed away and broke a door.

The witness, who works in the train station, said it wasn't the first time he had seen Price act poorly during his commute.

Price is a former high school football coach of Mayor Ford who was added to his city hall staff earlier this year and is making an estimated $130,000 per year.

His name has rarely been far from the train of controversy that runs through the Toronto political scene. Coun. Doug Ford once famously said Price was given a job of his brother's staff because "you can't teach loyalty."

Here are a few highlights from the loyal David Price's recent resume.

Cleanup duty

Reports have linked Price to efforts to recover an alleged video of Ford smoking from a crack pipe. He was interviewed by police after former chief of staff Mark Towhey was told by a staffer that he "hypothetically" knew where the tape was being kept.

Before joining the mayor's staff, Price placed several calls to Ford's radio program purporting to be an average citizen from various places around Toronto and participated in several attacks on Ford rivals.

Suspensions

Price was suspended from his position after placing an anonymous call to a Toronto Sun reporter complaining about new coverage. The Star also reports that Price disappeared from City Hall for two weeks after being reported for using a homophobic slur against a CBC radio journalist.

Long history with Fords

A Globe and Mail investigation also alleged that Price was a former participant in a hashish enterprise operated by Doug Ford. Ford has denied the accusations

No charges have been laid in the Metrolinx investigation, although the agency does have the ability to recommend police action in such cases.
