DjSadhu, a musician, producer, programmer, web developer and researcher from the Netherlands, has created an amazing video he calls 'The helical model — our Galaxy is a vortex', which shows our solar system as it makes its 226 million year orbit around the Milky Way.
The nearly 6-minute-long video shows our Sun spinning through a helical path, with the planets orbiting around it as it goes, and cosmic particles streaming in our wake as they are shoved aside by the Sun's magnetic field.

He admits to some artistic license with the video, which is needed for some aspects of the simulation — such as the scale of the planets vs the Sun (since at the correct scale the planets would be so tiny that we'd never see them) and the image of the Milky Way galaxy (since we have no images from outside our galaxy) — but even with some of the inaccuracies, it is still extremely cool.
