Canadian comic wins ‘best joke’ at Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Canadian comic Stewart Francis' one-liner about David and Victoria Beckham has won the award as "best joke" at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

A panel of 10 judges each watched an average of 60 shows at the Fringe then compiled a shortlist of 30 jokes, BBC News reports. The public then voted for the best one.

Francis won, earning 20 per cent of the vote, for the following joke from his "Return of the Lumberjacks" show:

"You know who really gives kids a bad name? Posh and Becks."

(David and Victoria Beckham gave their four kids the following names: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper Seven.)
