True 9/11 stories preserved as heartbreaking animations

So much has been shared about 9/11 over the past 10 years. Yet, the stories still move and the legacies still inspire today. Nonprofit StoryCorps aims to record at least one interview for every life lost in the attacks. It started gathering stories of Americans directly affected by the tragedy for the September 11th Initiative in 2005.Over 1,100 experiences have been shared so far.

StoryCorps animated three such narrations. Below, you can watch the beautiful, heartbreaking tales of a woman pondering her ex-husband's legacy, a man mourning the death of his fiancee and a retired firefighter remembering his two heroic sons. (Kleenex recommended.)
