Two strangers find love — thanks to an email typo

A mistyped email address brought two strangers together in January 2007.

Ruben P. Salazar, who was living in Waco, Texas, received an email intended for a Rachel P. Salazar. He noticed the obvious typo in the address and forwarded the message along with a short note to the stranger named Rachel, 9,000 miles away in Bangkok.

    She responded.

His message began "an email chain that led to a marriage proposal."

Today, Ruben and Rachel's love story is told by StoryCorps, the non-profit organization that animates and preserves Americans' life stories.

See how a typo led to love below in "To RP Salazar, With Love," narrated by the couple.

The Salazars' story is included in StoryCorps new book, All There Is: Love Stories from StoryCorps, which hits shelves on Feb. 2.

Lovely story true love happens in a split second, I know it happend to me almost sixteen years ago. I was living with one of my daughters from my first and she was getting ready to go off to university and I had an empty house all to my self, and someone said they knew a lady with a two year old daughter that was looking to shear a place and do some house keeping etc. so I said ok and the rest is history.

She sounds like she's a Filipina who was living in Thailand, and, since Filipinos have Spanish last names, she had the name Salazar. Believe it or not, some Filipinos even have Mexican, Aztec blood in a few cases because the Spanish brought some Mexicans there.

That isn't a typo, that was an entirely wrong first name.

Wonder how he figured out her email address. There could be tens of Rachel P. Salazar and they could be using emails that differ from their names.

Things happen for a reason, my 13 year relationship is ending but I STILL believe in true love/soul-mates and think it's great for these two people to have met under such an interesting circumstance!! All the best to them!! So what if this isn't news, we need something light-hearted and cheery every once in a while just to make us smile throughout our day!!
