Surprise! Justin Bieber planned to visit Crystal Amber Montgomery all along.
In the wake of a Facebook campaign that went viral over the weekend, the "Beauty and the Beat" singer turned up at an Edmonton hospital yesterday where he visited the 18-year-old patient with cancer.
Early Monday afternoon, Bieber tweeted a photo of himself with Montgomery at the Cross Cancer Institute, along with the hashtag #bieberforcrystal, which began trending earlier in the day with the help of Edmonton radio station Hot 107.
"Thanks to the fans for always pointing me on the right path. #giveback," Bieber tweeted after the meeting.
According to WENN, Montgomery had no idea her idol was coming, even though her best friend, Joana Antunes, had posted a letter to Bieber on Facebook on Saturday, asking him to visit the ailing teen before his concert Monday night.
The pop megastar had also given some clues as to what he was up to.
"now off to do something that matters. #giveback," he wrote on Twitter an hour before appearing at Montgomery's bedside.
Meanwhile, on Sunday he tweeted, "im working on something special."
Montgomery was diagnosed with cancer of the shoulder this summer and is the youngest patient at the Cross Cancer Institute, according to her best friend.
"It would mean the world to Crystal if you stopped even 5 minutes to see her, since she is too sick to leave the hospital and attend the concert like her and I had originally planned," Antunes wrote to Bieber on Facebook.
As it turns out, Montgomery got a lot more time with the 18-year-old singer than that -- Bieber even arranged for the teen to attend his concert after all by giving her tickets to wheelchair-accessible seats!
"@kennyhamilton @justinbieber you guys are amazing thank you for making crystals dream come true #bieberforcrystal," Antunes tweeted to Bieber and his bodyguard at the end of the night.
