Samsung Canada gives fan a one-of-a-kind Galaxy S III for free

In a move you wouldn't expect from a major technology company, Samsung Canada has ensured they will have a fan for life by giving a customized, extremely unique Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone to a man named Shane.

The one-of-a-kind phone features artwork by Shane (and no, Shane isn't a pre-schooler; he's 26, TechCrunch reports) of a dragon breathing fire and the exclamation "RAWR." The story of how that particular piece of artwork found its way on a smartphone starts back in May of this year.

Shane contacted Samsung Canada on the company's Facebook page, explaining how he owned many other Samsung products including an LCD TV, Samsung Galaxy S and a Samsung laptop. He inquired if they would send him a Samsung Galaxy S III for free, and to entice the brass, he attached a picture of a dragon he drew.

Unfortunately for Shane, Samsung Canada responded in the negative, saying that if they gave a free phone to everyone who asked, they'd be out of phones before they ever went on sale (this exchange happened prior to the phone's launch). But, to make it up to him, they included a picture of a kangaroo on a unicycle with their response.

The exchange ended up on Reddit and went viral, garnering Samsung some very positive buzz. In light of the upcoming Apple-Samsung lawsuit (which didn't turn out well for Samsung) and the need to hype the new phone, Samsung was very appreciative of Shane's contributions.

Now, Samsung Canada is showing Shane just how appreciative they are with the gift of a free phone. In the above letter, Samsung Canada explains that the phone is the only one-of-a-kind Samsung Galaxy S III in the country, with a customized faceplate and custom packaging to match the phone.

Well played, Samsung Canada! Check out more pics of Shane's truly fabulous phone on Imgur.
