Update: Patrick Dempsey's $14.5M Tin House sells in less than two weeks

Update, May 12, 2015: Is Patrick Dempsey feeling a little whiplash? According to Zillow, his Tin House in Malibu is already pending sale, less than two weeks after it was listed. The sale price isn't yet available (and of course it could still fall through), but with that sort of speed, it's probably safe to assume that it's going for somewhere close to the asking price of $14.5 million. That's more than double what Dempsey and his then-wife, Jillian Fink, paid for it in 2009.

The corrugated tin house you see here is — if Patrick Dempsey gets his $14.5 million asking price — about a season and a half's worth of "Grey's Anatomy" salary.

The leading man is leaving a lot behind all at once: first his marriage of 15 years, then the role that made him an American heartthrob, and now the Malibu home that his family bought in 2009.

The character he'd played for a decade on "Grey's Anatomy," Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd, was just killed off last week, even though Dempsey had a year left on his contract. His exit will save ABC a staggering amount of money — nearly $10 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter. One of TV's highest-paid actors, he was earning $400,000 an episode.

It's quite a hit to his wallet, but the listing of his tin can house should help. His asking price is more than double the $7 million that he and his wife, Jillian Fink, paid for it six years ago.

And of course, it's not just any house, corrugated metal aside. It measures 5,550 square feet, was designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, and sits on 3.2 acres with ocean views. It has a rock-climbing wall, raised-bed gardens, a pool (of course) — and a four-stall barn with pasture plus a chicken coop/animal hutches.

Living in the Tin House, as it's called, does have its drawbacks. Fink told Architectural Digest last year that "you can hear every sound that's made all over the house" — sometimes driving the couple to the Airstream/guesthouse parked in the garden for "date night." Dempsey himself put it more poetically, saying that the house "pops and cracks throughout the day as the temperature changes, as if it were speaking to you."

The date-night Airstream is included in the sale, just in case.
