Jose Bautista joins Blue Jays' 200 home run club

That Jose Bautista hit a home run was nothing new. That he reached a franchise milestone was.

Joey Bats became just the fifth slugger to hit 200 home runs in a Toronto Blue Jays uniform, reaching the plateau with a three-run jolt off Jacob Turner in the fifth inning of Monday's 8-0 drubbing of the Chicago Cubs.

"I'm very proud and honoured to have done it here," said Bautista, who has homered eight times in his last dozen games.

When you're hot, you're hot. Still...

Bautista, who set the franchise high for homers a single season with 54 in 2010, has a long way to go to catch Carlos Delgado, the all-time franchise leader with 336 home runs.

Carlos Delgado, 336 homers

Delgado is more than just the most prolific Blue Jays slugger. He is the most prolific Puerto Rican slugger, too. He hit 473 homers in his career, the first 336 of them with Toronto. His first was a mammoth clout off the windows of the Hard Rock Cafe at SkyDome in April 1994:

Vernon Wells, 223 homers

Wells showed consistent power throughout his tenure in Toronto. Let the record show it was he who saddled Jamie Moyer with an unwanted mark in June 2010 - the most homers (506) allowed by a major-league pitcher:

Joe Carter, 203 homers

No one in a Blue Jays uniform has hit a bigger homer - for the team or in their life - than Carter. Remember October 1993? Who can forget. Phillies 6, Toronto 5. Bottom of the ninth. Game 6. World Series:

George Bell, 202 homers

George Bell hit 202 of his 265 career homers in Toronto trim, including three on Opening Day in Kansas City on April 4, 1988 - a major-league record. He also hit the final home run at Exhibition Stadium, a walk-off winner against the Chicago White Sox in May 1989:
