Blustery, cloudy Saturday, but temps on the way up Sunday
It will be grey and blustery today, but tomorrow could be the warmest Winnipeg has been yet this year.
Environment Canada meteorologist Rob Paola said there is a chance of showers in Winnipeg's forecast Saturday, but by Sunday, the mercury will be solidly in the teens.
"Today we're expecting a high of 12 [C] and then up to 14 or 15 tomorrow, so this will be the mildest weather that we've seen this season," he said.
Late Saturday morning, Environment Canada revised the high to 11 C.
Paola said the snowfall warnings issued ahead of the Good Friday storm have been lifted.
"The bulk of the snow fell during the night last night, and it looks like about a good 15 centimetres fell from Roblin up through Swan River, in that area," he said.
That snow caused some problems in Swan River.
Tyson Guiboche, who works at Windsor's Esso in Swan River, said road conditions were so bad, a number of vehicles ended up in the ditch.
"Earlier, it was coming down like a mad dog," he said. "There's ice all over the roads. It's really heavy, heavy snow. There's two buses in the ditch along the highway. There's a truck along another highway that's in another ditch."
No details were available on whether there were any injuries.
Late Saturday afternoon, officials at Riding Mountain National Park said conditions on Highway 10, the Lake Audy Road and the Rolling River Road through the park had improved.
But they were still advising caution due to icy sections.
